EuroMPM2011 Bilbao: Project Organization
EuroMPM International Research Conference
We want to organize a EuroMPM IRC conference each year at one of the universities of the EuroMPM network.
Each such conference is a project that needs an organization.
Objects and object types to consider are:
  1. The conference
  2. The conference site – one of the universities - rooms for sessions
  3. The conference chairs – course directors of the EuroMPM – at least 2 – they invite to the conference and open the call for papers (call asks for extended abstracts of a scientific papers)– establish a program committee and an organizational committee – they coordinate activities of committees – they look for sponsors - they open and close the conference .
  4. Papers (extended abstracts) are submitted by authors – that are evaluated by referees or members of the program committee – after evaluation there are accepted and rejected papers.
  5. Program committee selects conference contributions and assign papers to sessions.
  6. Authors of selected papers (extended abstracts) submit final versions of their papers and a power point presentations for a session
  7. Local organizational committee – room reservation, infrastructure, catering, city tour, …
  8. Conference sessions – for the presentation of selected papers in a selected room at the conference site – one of the authors will present the paper (presenter)
  9. For each session there is a session chair – to introduce presenters and organize discussions and evaluations
  10. Participants register for the conference and take part in selected sessions
  11. Participants of a session evaluate the presenters of papers. Each presentation is based upon a selected extended abstract.
  12. Best papers are selected for publication

Constraints (considered for the moment when the conference will be opened)
1. Mandatory role with respect to the conference: conference chair, program committee, local committee, conference site, papers, authors, presenters, sessions, participants

2. Sessions must have a session chair and must include presentations.

3. Only authors can present a paper.

Group work
1. Analyze the considerations regarding an IRC above – discuss it – make additional contributions – make it “your” conference!

2. Develop a table of roles and responsibilities regarding people involved.

3. Prepare a first draft of an Object Role Model of “your” conference.

4. Prepare a first presentation.
